Sprout Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and [OPERATOR NAME] ("we", "us") covering your use of Sprout — the family chore, allowance, and money-management app, including its website, PWA, and any future apps (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy.

1. What Sprout is (and is not)

Sprout helps families organize chores, jobs, allowances, and savings habits using virtual balances kept as a family ledger.

  • Sprout is not a bank. No real money is deposited with, held by, or transferred through Sprout. Balances, "interest", and "payments" in the app are records the family keeps for itself; settling them with real money (or not) is entirely between family members.
  • Sprout is not financial advice. Features like savings interest, allocations, and goals are educational tools, not investment, tax, or financial advice.

2. Who may use Sprout

  • You must be an adult (18+, or the age of majority where you live) to create a family, act as its admin, or accept these Terms.
  • Children may use Sprout only within a family, with an account their parent or guardian created or approved (by sharing the family invite code). The parent accepts these Terms on the child's behalf and is responsible for the child's use of the Service.
  • Family invite codes are private. Share them only with people you intend to add to your family.

3. Accounts and responsibilities

  • Keep your password (and any device PIN) confidential and tell us promptly about any unauthorized use.
  • Family admins have broad control: they can view and manage children's data, approve or reject requests, reset passwords, remove members, export family data, and delete the family. If a family has multiple admins, each has this control.
  • You are responsible for the information you and your family enter into the Service and for keeping it lawful and accurate.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Break the law, or use the Service to harm anyone.
  • Probe, disrupt, or overload the Service, or access another family's data.
  • Reverse engineer the Service except where the law allows it despite this term.
  • Use the Service to send spam or run advertising.
  • Upload content that is illegal, hateful, or sexually explicit, or that infringes someone else's rights.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

5. Your content

Chore names, job descriptions, goals, feedback, avatars, and similar material your family enters remain yours. You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and process that content — solely to operate, secure, and improve the Service. This license ends when the content is deleted from the Service (subject to the short backup window described in the Privacy Policy).

6. AI features

Sprout includes an optional AI-powered help assistant. AI answers can be wrong or incomplete; they are provided for convenience only and are not professional advice. Use your own judgment before acting on them, and see the Privacy Policy for how AI questions are processed.

7. Termination and deletion

  • You can leave at any time. A family admin can delete individual accounts or the entire family from the app's settings; deletion is immediate and permanent (see the Privacy Policy for backup retention).
  • We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the Service. If we discontinue the Service we will give reasonable advance notice so you can export your data.
  • Sections that by their nature should survive termination (5, 8, 9, 10) survive it.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will never be lost — export your data regularly if it matters to you.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law: we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill; and our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) USD $50. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

10. Indemnity

If a third party brings a claim against us arising out of your family's content or your violation of these Terms, you agree to indemnify us against the resulting losses and reasonable expenses.

11. Changes to the Service or these Terms

We may improve or change the Service over time. If we make a material change to these Terms we will notify you (by email or an in-app notice) before it takes effect; continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the change. If you do not accept it, delete your account before the change takes effect.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], excluding its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of [JURISDICTION], and you and we each consent to their jurisdiction.

13. General

If part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These Terms plus the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a reorganization or sale of the Service.
